About & methodology
ClipCost converts subscription plans into a dollar cost per generated clip: (plan price ÷ monthly credits) × credits per clip.
- Prices are consumer list prices in USD, excluding tax. First-month promotions are ignored; renewal prices are used.
- Credit costs per model come from each app’s pricing page or docs. Every data point records its source URL and date checked (see prices.json).
- Normalization: when an app publishes a rate for a different length (e.g. 4s or 6s), we scale it linearly to 5s and 10s (credits × 5/len, × 10/len). Where only a 5s rate exists, 10s is shown only if the app prices per second or we label it as linear scaling (Higgsfield). Real 10s costs can differ if an app doesn’t support that length or prices it differently.
- Pay-as-you-go (kie.ai): kie.ai is an API with no subscription; cost per clip = credits × $0.005. In the calculator, your whole budget buys credits; the reported $5 minimum top-up is used as its entry price.
- If a rate is not published or unclear, it is shown as “—” rather than estimated.
- Assumes you use all credits; unused credits usually expire. Failed/retried generations cost extra in practice.
- “Unlimited” modes and daily free credits are not counted.
